Music Thoughts

I wrote and write marching band music fun fun

I wrote marching band music (hey, it pays and it’s fun) lately.
surprisingly enjoyable. one of the songs is sorta supposed to sound like danny elfman, but not BE him. curious. (I’m surprised how easy “sounding like someone else” was, but maybe it was luck. hey, I don’y really write “non-percussive” music EVER, ya know?

lets try more stuff

there “appear” to be some things I simply haven’t done enough to KNOW< or UNDERSTAND WHY or THAT I would enjoy them, what they have to offer… which means I must just settle down to doing them, several times, possibly a ton of times, BEFORE I judge that I hate them…

perhaps some day, I can truly know I am not interested…

but first,

it seems…

I’ll need to um, give them more of a chance…

I’m a teenage boy still, in other words.
but let’s not self-judge,

growing up, heh, no need to judge, it’s life, we live it. everythings ok.

let’s keep living.

Love my Artist Friends

oh MAN, yes….
one thing, that’s “SO” true….

about my creative artist and crazy and CalArts friends…

such people…
NEVER

belittle you, mock you, tease you, or otherwise judge your or put you down, because of WHO YOU ARE, your tastes, interests, or ways of expressing yourself.

they (we) may do it over creAtive matters, but that’s entirely different. (person A likes this, person B likes that, and it’s all okay.)

such people NEVER do it in the juvenile, “jock” immature insecure ways that average people (ahem, mostly men) do. (sorry ladies, but I’m not as familiar with how women “tend” to do this.)

and this, friends…

is VERY nice, very nice indeed, nothing but wonderful.

this is the good way.

me happy.

#CalArtsLove

into the moment, and moment music

things that bring you into the moment, such as eve Pilates, not just yoga and such…

out of one’s head, perhaps.

after doing pilates, assuming I manage to get on with my day (often I don’t)

life seems real nice, for some reason.

and the thought of the day shall be—|

“Perhaps I am happy, already.”

there being no “there” there, indeed.

3rds, music theory, and some film soundtracks

a friend of mine and I are having a nifty discussion (mostly it’s me talking and him saying as much with almost no words)

about music theory, and we agreed (his words) that

“a MOVIE-MUSIC-y sound is

“a movie-music-y sound, chord roots a third apart, mixed qualities, common tones/pedal tones”

case in Point: V for Vendetta, by Dario Marinelli.

MY QUESTION IS:

when, did film soundtracks become like this, and how?

I mean, I don’t know many (any?) of the great old film soundtracks. Korngold? bernard herman, others…

classical music also “was not like this once.” (it was indeed becoming so (at least) by the time of Wagner.

when DID film soundtracks become so?

if you don’t like/love yourself,

if you don’t like/love yourself,
you won’t LET others like you (love as well) and
if they get to close, you’ll actively do things to PUSH them away, sabotage.

seems to be a “reflective” in and out type of situation.

so, like yourself. then you’ll allow others to.

funny when you step back into something you haven’t done in a while…

funny when you step back into something you haven’t done in a while…
after a bit,
it’s just “there”, all again…
like magic.

even if you would have to think if you had to explain to someone what you were doing, when it comes to just DOING it, it’s just THERE…. like walking.

(unless it is a videogame from the supernintendo… with something “that” old you might need a little practice first.)
